University of Miami Football Scandal



In 2011, the University of Miami Hurricanes Football program was under a lot of heat. Twelve of the student-athletes were investigated for recieving improper benefits from boosters on the school campus.

 

 

The players were expected to miss a lot of games due to this investigation but only 8 or the 12 student-athletes had missed games. If the NCAA start to pay the players then it would prevent student-athletes to accept improper benefits from college boosters.

Reggie Bush Scandal



Reggie Bush was one of the top running backs that ever wore a University of Southern California Trojans uniform. He had led his team to a Championship Bowl Game apperance, and he was also a Heisman Trophy winner.

 

It was later found out that Reggie had been recieving gifts from various sports agents. He and his family was being taken care of by various sports agents who were interested in signing Reggie to their sports agency. Once the NCAA was informed of this, they stripped Reggie of his Heisman Trophy and the team's Bowl Game Championship. If the NCAA start paying players then college athletes will not accept improper benefits from sports agents.

College sports are always having championship games, and the team who wins often recieve NCAA Championship Rings to recognize their effort. They want their student-athletes to feel good about winning a National Championship.

 

Often when student-athletes win a Championship and find out they are getting a Championship Ring, so that often means to them that they could get a lot of money to pay for college which goes against the NCAA's contract, but if the NCAA were to start paying the players, the players wouldn't sell their rings and it would decrease scandals in the NCAA.
